"... In an age of instant digital
images, it is easy to see why some might think of
portrait-painting as an anachronism. However, the
interpretation an artist makes of his or her subject, never mind
the technical quality of the portraiture, is unique and can
bring out the character of a subject and his place far more
profoundly than more modern means can hope to do."
Simon Heffer on
being painted by Susannah Fiennes,

Susannah
Fiennes was born and educated in England but has travelled extensively and for
five years between 1999 and 2004 had a studio and lived in New York.
She graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, London, in 1983 with
a BA Hons degree (1st Class). Since then, Susannah has shown her
work widely in both group and solo exhibits. As well as the
National Portrait Gallery, London, The House of Commons, Westminster and
Barings Bank, London, her work is included in the collection of HRH the
Prince of Wales, whom she accompanied as tour artist on his official
foreign visits in 1995, 1997 and 1999.
Susannah
undertakes commissions for portraits in pencil, charcoal, oil or watercolour.
As she prefers to work directly from the sitter without the use of
photographs, sitting times can vary from one 2-hour session for a
drawing to ten 2-hour sessions for an oil painting. She will
travel to a client's choice of location anywhere in the world for
sittings.
Today Susannah has studios in Ireland and South Wales, has a home in
London and continues to travel to America frequently.
